2012 SinCity CrossFit Diet Challenge

The Challenge:  The first diet challenge of the year will take place April 15 through May 30.  This time it will be an individual challenge with 1 male and one female winner.  We encourage all SCCF members to give it a shot.  Everyone can improve their diet, which in turn will not only improve your performance, but also your quality of life.  It is not a weight loss challenge.  The goal is to improve eating habits for the long term and see all the positive effects it will have on your fitness.  Diets:  The zone diet and paleo diet are the most popular in the crossfit community.  The one you are able to follow is the best choice for you.  There is plenty of free info online about both diets.  We also have our recipe blog which contains many great meal ideas for both diets.  If you would like a private nutritional consultation with an individualized meal plan, we can do that as well.  Rules:  To participate in the challenge you must pay the $15 entry fee.  You must also complete 3 out of 5 benchmark workouts before and after the challenge.  In addition, every workout you do must be logged on beyond the whiteboard.  You must also get your bf%, weight, waist measurement, and before and and after pics taken before and after the challenge.  We can take the body fat measurement here at the gym, or you can have it done at UNLV or Bod POd Las Vegas.Criteria:  Winners will be chosen based off of a combination of their improvement in the benchmark workouts, their bf% and measurements, and their appearance.  Each winner will receive 33% of the pot which is made up of all the $15 entry fees.  The more participants we have, the bigger the pot will be!  Winners will also recieve a free shirt and fish oil!   We will host a potluck before the challenge starts where we will explain the basics of the paleo and zone diets.  We will also share recipes and answer any questions on the diet while we stuff our faces.  Through out the challenge we will have a few more pot lucks to make sure everyone stays on the right track.  Below are some important dates for the challenge:4/9 – 4/15 – Benchmark wods must be completed                        Measurements and pics must be taken                        Entry fee must be paid4/14 @1pm – Paleo/Zone/BBQ/Potluck – We will also explain the diets and answer any questions 4/28 @1pm - Paleo/Zone/BBQ/Potluck5/19 @1pm - Paleo/Zone/BBQ/Potluck5/28-6/1 – Redo benchmark wods                     Measurements taken again6/2 – After Party!  Announce winners!
