Anything but country
Do you, or did you play any sports?
I use to play many sports growing up such as basketball, soccer, softball. My parents always wanted my siblings and I to stay healthy so they tried to make us do as many sports as possible. After moving to Vegas, I wasn’t involved in any sports because it was so competitive. But during my junior year of high school one of my best friends convinced me to do track and field. I have no idea how she did it, but she persuaded me to do pole vaulting with her. So during my junior & senior year I was busy with track, although it never really felt like an actual sport because we always had a lot of fun during practice and meets.
How long have you been crossfitting?
I’ve been crossfitting on and off for about 2 years. You’d think I should be super strong by now, but I haven’t been consistent at all until I started to train for Fit Wars about 6 months ago
How many times a week do you crossfit?
About 5 times a week. I usually come in the late morning at 11 for strength & then do the WOD after at 12.
What is your favorite cheat meal?
Pasta is my favorite. Any type of pasta!
Do you follow paleo or zone?
No but I try to watch what I eat.
Which SinCity location do you workout at, and how did you get started there?
I work out at the main gym. I got started there by my mom in the teens class. She didn’t want me spending my summer being lazy and doing nothing so she looked into crossfit and found this location.
Favorite movement?
Squats because it’s me versus myself
Favorite workout?
I don’t necessarily have a favorite workout, I like WODS with squat cleans or squat snatches.
Least favorite movement?
Rowing! I hate it so much! I’d rather run than row any day.
1rm clean n jerk:
125lbs
Why do you go to SCCF?
It’s so much better than going to a regular gym & trying to plan your own workouts. Plus the workouts are never boring and the people there just make it that much more great.
Who is your favorite trainer?
My favorite trainer was Bobbie because she started me off in the teens class and always made the workouts fun and exciting. I was so sad to see her leave as a coach 🙁
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
People would probably be surprised that I tutor children. I help them with reading, writing, and math. One of my favorite things about working with children is just talking to them & asking them how their day went.
How has crossfit improved your life?
Crossfit has improved my life in so many ways! Not only health wise, but also mentally. I never thought I would be able to do half the things I do everyday. I’m still a big baby when it comes to certain movements and after a pep talk from one of coaches or members I prove to myself that I’m stronger than I think.
What or who inspires you the most?
Everyone that goes to SCCF inspires me everyday. Seeing them make it to the gym & put 100% into each workout makes me want to push myself more and become better than I was yesterday. I also love seeing the older people do crossfit because it shows that age doesn’t define anyone.
Biggest achievement since you started/ what you are most proud of?
I’m most proud of learning to do butterfly pull-ups. I tried doing them like 6 months ago & thought I’d never learn them. Surprisingly the other week I thought I’d give it another try & did 3. They aren’t perfect yet, but I’ve been working on them everyday since then after each workout.
What are your fitness goals for this year?
My goals for this year would probably be learning muscle ups and getting better at my weaknesses such as rowing, jerks, and handstand walks.
