Athlete Spotlight – Tori Robbins

Name:Tori Robbins

Age:22, I’ll be 23 in March 🙂

Occupation:Student at UNLV/Coach at SCCFS/Wife

Single/married/family?Married to Jonathan Robbins

Favorite activity outside of CrossFit? I pretty much just Crossfit all the time.. and lay on the couch.

Favorite workout music?Greenday, Disturbed, Blink 182, and any other rock.. but not metal.

Do you follow paleo or zone diet?Neither. I’ve tried Paleo but it’s such a pain to try and make Paleo recipes all the time. I like to eat decent. I try to eat a salad a day, a lot of bacon, some meat, some carbs, and fruit. But…. Before bed I like to have cereal a few times a week.. It’s better than ice cream!!

Do you, or did you play any sports?I played volleyball for a season in HS. I also did gymnastics for a year or so when I was in middle school. But Crossfit has been my sport.

How long have you been crossfitting? Two years this February! I’ve been doing the WODS since last June.

How many times a week do you crossfit?4-5 times per week

What is your favorite place to eat or cheat meal?Luckily bacon isn’t a cheat meal. I usually like to get sushi or Settebello for a cheat meal.

Which SinCity location do you workout at, and how did you get started there?

SinCity Crossfit South. Jonathan Robbins got me started with Crossfit when I was almost 21. I was working out at the gym a few times a week and finally decided to try it out. I was really nervous and very out of shape. The 15 lb. Kettlebell was difficult to use!

Favorite movement?Back squats for sure.

Favorite Workout?Annie. I finally got my double unders down. In November my Annie time was almost 15 minutes, now my best time is 7:45! I’m still working on getting my current Annie time faster.

Least favorite movement?HSPU. It’s so awkward to be on my head.

Why do you go to SCCF?I really enjoy lifting heavy weights, trying to PR, and I like being fit.

Who is your favorite trainer?TJ, he’s given me great tips on how to perform movements more efficiently and has helped me PR.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?Hmm.. I can only clean house when I am listening to music with headphones… and singing at the same time.

How has crossfit improved your life? Crossfit has improved my health, made me fit, and I’ve made a lot of great friends.

What or who inspires you the most?My husband and myself. I always want to push myself harder unless I am completely exhausted. I also enjoy getting better times than my husband although it’s very rare.

Biggest achievement since you started/ what you are most proud of?I am most proud of my 1 rep max back squat at 175.. I just got some olys so hopefully that’ll go up to 200 lbs. soon 🙂

What are your fitness goals for this year?I want to get a muscle up! I need to keep practicing that false grip, it’s so weird.
